If you click "into" the text (that's cheating, yes), then you can shift-select
from the keyboard from there on. But you have to hit the magic space before
the first character to get the whole thing (at least I haven't found a way to
move the selection's anchor). Yes I tried the "Always use the cursor keys to
navigate within pages" setting. It doesn't seem to help.

Back then, there was this crazy idea that software has also a pedagogical
dimension: to enable the user to learn and grow (even perhaps to seduce
them to).

Nowadays it seems to be quite the contrary. I understand why Big Corp à la
Microsoft, Apple, Google et al would want to do that, but seeing (nominally)
free software copying that antipattern is... jarring.
