a little help with thunar

i've never used thunar before
i have several directories with many videos
i had hoped to use thunar to help me scan through them using icon view
the problem i'm having is the icons are generated on the fly
when i page down i have to wait for the images to be generated
so it's page down, twiddle my thumbs
page down, twiddle my thumbs
...
is there a better way
