In practice I don't think that is a problem that happens.
I would not be surprised if behavior of udisks (that is often involved
in the case of USB drives) has some specifics in comparison to
/etc/fstab entries or to calling mount directly. On the other hand, a
directory for logging should not be handled by udisks.
