Hi,
My current DOS system is not freedos.
Because of some of the specs tied to the dell hardware I am being
offered, I am unsure if the DOS package I am currently running will
work, perhaps it will be fine.
the simplicity of running Linux on its own will depend on if the far
older hardware can manage the job though.
While I may be wrong, running freedos in a virtual environment will
depend on if that virtual environment understands standard com port
locations, hardware wise I mean.

I think I understand you want dos as it has your preferred reader/voice
program.
You also want Debian to play a radio station.
Out of interest the ChatGPT just now helped make a touchscreen menu on a
PC to do things on another PC.
which seems to be working.
Presume instead of the touchscreen you'd do voice commands.
On Debian (the receiver PC) make a pipe thingy.
mkfifo ~/menu.fifo
On the sender dos PC
get $command by voice somehow then send it over ssh to the FIFO on the
receiver PC
On the debian receiver PC
open and read the pipe.
Do action depending on $command.
I don't know if that's helpful or not.
