lee@spot ~ $ nmcli conn NAME UUID TYPE DEVICE ap3002 4885580c-7367-411b-aa86-6e8ef8b95eab wifi wlp2s0 lo 7fed8c7f-7907-4a51-9405-847ab00f640f loopback lo enp1s0 64375346-327e-4db0-aa83-bacbc3bb90ea ethernet -- The ethernet interface is configured in /etc/network/interfaces with a static IP address and gateway. I haven't changed it in years. Unless maybe the presence/absence of ipv6 on my network makes a difference? What I was using as a firewall/router is now imitating a brick; I put an openwrt box in as the firewall/router and I don't have ipv6 configured yet. lee@spot /etc/network $ grep '^iface' interfaces iface lo inet loopback iface enp1s0 inet static iface enp1s0 inet6 dhcp enp1s0 has a static ipv4 address and requests a dhcp assigned ipv6 address, which it won't get until I've got ipv6 configured so maybe... yup - comment out the "iface enp1s0 inet6 dhcp" section in /etc/network/interfaces and a reboot doesn't hang for 5 minutes Thanks!
