Hallo,
>Can anyone tell me, what should I do to enable the choice of which type,
>(EXT2, EXT3, REISERFS) to use for my file system?

ext2 and ext3 are (from a fdisk point of view) the same. You can turn any ext2
partition into an ext3 by using
tune2fs -j /dev/...
This creates the journal file, You can start using it by modifying the /etc/
fstab to mount it ext3 instead of ext2.
