I just installed debian woody in a dell pc (400 Mhz, 128 megs, and a 3com NIC: 3c905B 100BaseTX). During the installation of debian, the installation of any network card module failed. All network configuration was wrong and kept getting the "neighbour table overflow" message. After installation, I manually configured the /etc/netwrok/interfaces to have:
auto lo auto eth0
iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet dhcp
I rebooted the system expecting the eht0 not to work but at least fix the loopback interface and to my surprise eth0 was working as well! I could not find which module the kernel is using for eth0 anywhere. Is it possible that it is not using any module? The output for lsmod is:
