You should use the report form that is on the installer page to report this. I had same problem and thought they had fixed it in the most recent version. I think it has an "auto" for eth0 which it cannot find and then bails permanently of setting up the networking even though it finds the card later. I find the auto hardware detect is nice, but has rough edges and if a modprobe fails, it tends to lock the installer in my experience.
