I recieve

Linux Linux 2.4.21-xfs #13 SMP Tue Aug 26 01:46:14 CEST 2003 i686 GNU/Linux

And I have got and installed the 2.6 kernel using synaptic ( apt-got the 
image).

So, why isn't it working 2.6?..
