I don't know of any efforts to do so; no one has talked to me about it, but it certainly sounds like a worthwhile effort. At the moment, the scripts can't handle it, but I can't see any reason as to why they can't be changed. Some strings are currently embedded into the perl script which is used to generate the site, so they'd need to be taken out.
