Is the problem easy to reproduce? Does the freeze occur at X startup or later when starting 3D apps?
When did the problem first occur? Did you ever run earlier versions of xserver-xorg-video-radeon? Can you try the last one that I uploaded to experimental this morning (git20081129)?
