As far as the FTCs new "War On Spam", we should encourage everyone to foward
SPAM emails to them. The more the better. That way when they get
overloaded by the shear numbers of complaint SPAM emails, someone may start
to realize the extent of the problem, the extent of our hatred of SPAM and
the extent of our resolve to rid the world of this scurge!!

The Sortmonster Sniffer system takes this into account by limiting the
inbound traffic through the existing filters. That way, the only messages
that come into our system to be processed are those that are not yet coded
into our filter mechanisms... In theory, as we grow our subscriber base and
our footprint our filter's effectiveness will grow with the volume of spam
reported from subscribers.

I agree with you. If the FTC is running wide open (which we can assume from
the article) then they will need some serious pre-processing power to handle
the onslaught.

| This is the last paragraph of the article.

| I have around 8,000 mail boxes and aliases in my server, if I set
| my bounces
| to copy to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (which I think is what they meant), I would easily
| double the 10K. I bounced over 12K yesterday alone. I am set for a real
| high threshhold befoire bounce as well. (Weight of 20, most tests
| count only
| 5, and HEUR below 5 is negative, less reliable tests count 0) If
| we all did
| it their mail server will crash under the weight. Of course
| maybe then they
| will realize the total severity of the issue. I wonder how many spam
| reports Spamcop processes per day.
|
| Any coments welcome.
