Thanks John! From:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of I apologize if this is a bit off topic, but I’m in the process of setting up a new network from the ground up. I have an option of using a .NET domain vs. a .COM domain as the primary for the network itself. Whichever I pick will be used as the fully qualified domain name for the name severs). Whenever I’ve run a DNS check using the tools at www.dnsstuff.com (which are the best by the bay) I’ve always noticed a comment that using .NET is penalized points i.e., “3 points for ".net" TLD (extra lookups may be required to find the parent servers)”. My question is how big a deal is this really? I could use a .COM domain for the network (and thus the name servers), but for a several business reasons doing so complicates the initial start up of the network for me. I’d appreciate whatever advice people can provide. Thanks! |
