I've watched the messages about Declude Junkmail for a year now and I
finally bit the bullet a purchased the Standard version yesterday.
Setup was a breeze and painless. Within minutes, I reviewed my Declude log
file and saw the logged messages with the spam tests they failed. YEAH!!
I've read through the documentation over and over and have a couple
questions/comments:
1. I'm running v1.22a I believe. I installed Declude Confirm first and
then just added the Junkmail config files. I was a little confused because
the Junkmail page said v1.21a was the latest version but was a BETA.
However the release notes stated that 1.22a was current.
2. It would be nice if the sample config contained all of the options with
the default option(s) uncommented. For example, the LOGLEVEL is set to LOW
in the default GLOBAL.CFG. The documentation wasn't exactly clear what the
options were LOGLEVEL except in the Testing section of the document. When
I set LOGLEVEL to MEDIUM, the Declude log file stated: "Warning: Log Level
in CFG file invalid; setting to debug level." Did I miss something?
3. My wife subscribes to a listserv through EGROUPS.COM (now part of Yahoo
I believe). The list is very active and the messages come in logged as
SPAMHEADERS and that's all. These are legit e-mails which is a bit shocking
to me. In reviewing all of SPAMHEADERS messages logged, only the
EGROUPS.COM messages are legit - all others ARE spam (how many Viagra emails
do we need <grin>). Because these EGROUPS messages are legit, I don't want
to block them - what is the next step? I would like to see the other actual
SPAM erradicated.
4. Is there a way to block messages on multiple failed tests? For example,
is there a way to specify if a messages fails the SPAMHEADERS *AND* the
REVDNS test to hold/delete the message?
So far I'm tickled with the product - I'll be estatic if I can get to the
point where I'm actually stopping the progress of spam.
Maintain,
Babul
