Currently the database is not yet categories for result codes. The
mechanisms are in place in the software, but we are holding off on
categorising the database so that we can work on putting that database
online to allow subscribers to customize their subscriptions.

I would be interested in seeing any legitimate false positives you find
so that we can adjust the rule base. We have a very aggressive policy
against false positives.

The methodology that we recommend in most cases like yours is to create
whitelist entries for the messages you want to get through. These always
override other tests like Message Sniffer.

Thanks, HTH,
_M

| Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] Checking Message Sniffer result codes...
|
|
| Madscientist, Scott, etc....
|
| I've installed the trial of SortMonster Message Sniffer. And
| I must say it catches a lot of stuff that the standard tests
| do not. I'm quite happy. But I've also noticed a fair amount
| of false positives (partly due to my own definition of
| junkmail, not a problem with the program). But a few were
| legit like lots of ebay bid confirmations.
|
| Because of this, I would like to configure JunkMail to catch
| messages based on SOME of Message Sniffer's result codes. I
| looked on the JunkMail manual site and couldn't find too much
| except a basic definition of the EXTERNAL directive. And not
| much on Message Sniffer site except basic Declude configuration.
|
| My best guess is that the "nonzero" paramater for EXTERNAL
| means trigger if anything but 0 is returned. Right? If so,
| do I have to create a separate test for any specific or range
| of result codes I want to trap? This could mean I'd have to
| create up to 64 different tests? I hope not. Any chance I
| can use ranges like "0-10, 25-35", etc. Wishful thinking?
|
| Also, is there any place I can get a basic description of the
| 64 result codes and what "kind" of categories they are? I
| can't find much rhyme or reason just by looking at the
| messages that fail each kind. If there was a list that said
| something like "0-5: Pornography", "6-8: Probably legit lists
| but shady ones", etc.
|
| Thanks a lot!
|
