The only dumb question is the one unasked. :))

mail?

The war on spam is an ongoing dynamic battle. As soon as you get you
configuration down pat, some spammer will come up with a new technique to
get around your configurations. You have already made the best step in
purchasing Declude and subscribing to this list. I would suggest spending
some time going through the archives to have looks see at some of the work
being done by others.

We all do. The problem is my configuration may not work for as, as we have
different clients or situations. The best approach is a balanced one, using
several different angles to attack the problem. This is what makes Declude
such a great program; it is very expandable and adaptable.

> Do I really need to subscribe to a service?

If you are referring to the paid RBL lists, no, it is not recommended. What
is recommended is using one or more external programs developed by Declude
users, such as Sniffer, SpamManager or SpamCheck.

Some of us are preparing white papers on specific tests or scenarios. If you
explain what your usage patters are and what kind of clients you serve, we
can offer further recommendations.
