Can someone take a look at the headers on this email and tell me why it failed badheaders?
From this header:
X-RBL-Warning: SPAMHEADERS: This E-mail has headers consistent with spam [c040020e].
we see that the code is "c040020e" (that code is shared by SPAMHEADERS and BADHEADERS). The BADHEADERS Lookup tool at http://www.declude.com/tools says "This E-mail has a bogus time zone in the Date: header. It is possible that there are other problems, too -- if you fix the problem, and there are other problems, you can come back with the new code."
Looking at several headers shows:
From: CBS MarketWatch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 11 Jul 2003 18:11:03 (GMT) X-mailer: AspMail 3.53 (SMTP546388)
They are using a broken mail client called "AspMail 3.53" that does not have a valid Date: header. Most likely, this was an old beta version of the program (they are currently at 4.1). Although this header looks great to most humans, computers following the RFCs will not be able to determine the time this E-mail was sent. Therefore, even if it *does* get past anti-spam software, it will still get "lost" in the inboxes of most mailservers.
