The problem here is that you have added a header of "This is a test." -- but that isn't a valid header. E-mail headers need to have field name, comprised of any ASCII characters except control characters, spaces, and colons, which can then be followed by the field text that can be anything you want. For example:
X-Note: This is a test
This: is a test
This-is-a-test:
This-is-a-test: Hello!-Scott
