In an attempt to keep the original thread going, here's some anecdotal evidence of the problem and relevance of this test.

In the last 60 hours, 15 separate pieces of spam have gotten through to my own account, out of those, 6 contained no displayable text, just comments (and other crap in <> tags) and enough code to show an image and link it (V-i-a_g-r-a, C-i-a_l-i-s and P-e-n_i-s P-a_t-c-h, 2 messages each, words obfuscated by me). Another 2 separate ads were just a linked image, comments and a dabbling of text (48 characters and 27 characters including spaces and line breaks).

For the moment, a test that would function in the original method I purposed would have taken care of a significant amount of spam that gets through my system. From monitoring my logs, these linked image only spams often get through with hardly any points. The others with a dabble of text are also commonly a problem. It would seem that the spammers sending these are pretty good about finding IP's that aren't on any lists, and their message headers are compliant (remember, this is the stuff that gets through).

I would love to have a test for this that I could rely on close to 100%, and if my recollection is correct, the problem has been going on for more than a few months.

Matt
