I'm curious how long it takes for average messages to clear the entire scan and pass/fail process. The complexity of the testing as well as the size and number of my filters have grown steadily over time, and I haven't been watching closely to see what's happened to delivery speed. I was rereading Pete's ideas about holding messages in limited circumstances to allow virus scanning and spam testing to catch up with new threats, and I started asking myself "what delay is 'normal' now".
