It is a starting place for sure. In my three weeks, I've found Junkmail to be simple,
yet deep in it's abilities.
One test I added late was the spamdomains test. This test checks to see if a
hotmail.com e-mail comes from a server with hotmail in it's address. Very effective at
these types of SPAM, but you need to build your own spamdomains.txt or find on the
archive.

Matt at mailpure.com has some nice filters that I use. These are informative to look
at and effective at getting niche spam.

How I operate is to import the virus and junkmail logs into access.
I use the database to check the mail between 10 and 30 weight (20 is tag e-mail, 40 is
delete) and use blacklists or whitelists to add or subtract points.
I also use the database to see what my subject and body filters are doing for bad
hits. I found Kami @ clickandpledge.com had posted his body and subject filters on the
mailing list.
If I add a new test, I check the database to see how it is doing, is it getting too
many false positive, I may then remove it or lower it's weight.

Is the $default.junkmail and global.cfg files that come with Junkmail the recommended
settings? Is this what I should use for my installation? I have it setup and have
been playing with all the settings, basically tinkering to learn.

Thanks,
Joe
