Hi,
This is an FYI for you folks. I was having a problem receiving mail from
X-Declude-Sender:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
CHWIRE.COM [192.155.61.9]
And yet all my other mail was coming through. The mailing list was
reporting that it was getting a relaying denied message. Declude was not
preventing it. Imail was sending it on to the Symantec SMTP Gateway and
that is what was generating the relaying denied message.
The problem was that there is a section in the Symantec SMTP Gateway for
Anti-Relay called:
Blocking by characters in email addresses
Reject messages with email addresses that contain any of the following
characters (no spaces or commas between entries):
Symantec had recommended that in that field you put the following
~!#$%^&*()
Which includes the "*" and that is what was disallowing the mail. Their
reasoning for the list of characters is that they are not used and they
can be used to send malicious strings in the MAILFROM field.
