In the title bar in the message there is a space (more than one in
fact).

That's probably because the E-mail uses HTML tables, which separates various groups of text into different boxes (so it may appear that there is a space where there is not).


How come then you strip out the HTML codes the space disappears?

It doesn't disappear. The source that you showed did not include a space.
