I can help you out with the unkillable processes.

Check out http://www.sysinternals.com and download their free "PS Tools"
command line package.

Specifically, you want pskill.exe so that you can specify any executable
name or PID that's running.  It definitely helps you kill processes that
Task Manager won't let you.  You'll be using it locally, but in a
LAN/WAN environment you can kill process remotely too; in that case, you
can enumerate them over the network with pslist.exe
