In that case, you would need to open some of those files, and see when the 
E-mail arrived, and check the Declude Virus log file to see what happened 
when the E-mail arrived.  For example, the log will show if the virus 
scanner returned an error.

Yes, those are safe to delete (assuming that you do not wish to archive 
them, but most people do not archive them).
