we just check every 15 days or so.. and delete old virus messages... we like to keep the messages there, in case some are caught as viruses while they aren't .. we don't want to delete those and rather we prefer to put them back in the spool for proper mailbox forwarding.
If you are running out of space. I suggest to buy a secondary Hard Drive or another one...
