Just as an aside, I have a collection of >20 status files that I use to test APT's sequencer, everything from rexx to pre-frozen hamm. There are enough internal checks that the algorithm is self testing as far as dependencies go - what it did for brandon is exactly what I expected it to do given those conditions. On reflection I think I may investigate changing things so that this condition results in an error if an essential package is involved, however that may make perl uninstallable...
