Actually here is the best reason why.

The problem with netgod's site is that he installed mod_spelling. It
turned out that the original reporter had an old package file so
mod_spelling 'corrected' the file name to the new version and sent back a
redirect!

So if I did support redirects this case would leave to even more confusing
problems, the MD5 sum on the file would fail beacuse it's the WRONG file
