Package: apt Version: 0.3.11 Severity: wishlist apt-get currently just lists packages that have been kept for some reason.
To find out *why* they're kept back, you need to do an apt-get install on them. (And this is really not obvious... especially for inexperienced folks. I mean, the package is installed, so why should I do apt-get install?) Maybe a -v (verbose) flag or an -i (info) flag could be added. It would simply have to spit out what apt-get install spits out when you ask it. I mean, the code already *has* to be there (somewhere ;-).
