Package: apt Version: 0.3.19 Severity: wishlist File: /usr/bin/apt-get It would be very nice, especially when using Debian unstable, for apt-get to be able to automagically save the installed copy of packages it intends to upgrade or remove. Invoking 'dpkg-repack' on the list of packages that will be upgraded or removed, while not perfect, would be a good start.
If this capability already exists, it might be nice to document it as an example somewhere in the apt-get man page. -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux genki 2.2.18-zb-686-smp #1 SMP Fri Dec 15 21:28:14 EST 2000 i686 Versions of packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.2.1-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libstdc++2.10 1:2.95.2-14 The GNU stdc++ library
