Package: apt Version: 0.5.3 Severity: wishlist I suggest what I think is a very important feature.
I suggest the apt-get by default create a log in /var/lib/dpkg of every message appearing when it runs. This would be very helpful when I forget to run apt-get dselect-upgrade in an Emacs buffer to look at the warnings printed by the various postinst scripts and similar sources. Without this feature, I have no way to recover those messages once I run apt-get on a different console than the one I work on. -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Kernel Version: Linux pot 2.2.13 #17 Tue May 9 13:12:19 CEST 2000 i686 unknown Versions of the packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.2.2-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone ii libstdc++2.10- 2.95.4-0.01042 The GNU stdc++ library
