Package: apt Version: 0.5.3 Severity: wishlist I'd like to see apt-cache support two new commands, currentver and newver. Both commands would take a list of packages, and print the following on stdout:
packagename: version for each package parameter. "version" should be the version that is either currently installed (for currentver) or would be installed by apt-get install packagename (for newver). I've started looking at the source, and may be able to add this myself; if I do get it done, i'll reply to this bug with a patch. If you think I'm doing this in the wrong place, please let me know where it would be more appropriate. - Marc -- System Information Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux projectile 2.2.19 #1 Mon May 7 09:24:37 EDT 2001 i586 Versions of packages apt depends on: ii libc6 2.2.3-1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 1:2.95.4-0.010424 The GNU stdc++ library
