apt just crashed on me while trying a dselect-upgrade; since apt doesn't include any debugging information, I doubt the stack trace will be of much use.
I think I can attribute this to trying to upgrade to gnome 2.4, the unofficial packages (deb http://people.debian.org/ ~fpeters/gnome2.4/) I'm running unstable up-to-date as of today. Here goes anyway, and I'll try to recompile a version of apt with debugging info. #0 0x401284e6 in std::string::append(std::string const&) () from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5 #1 0x4003cd4f in URI::operator std::string() () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #2 0x4003a6bd in URItoFileName(std::string) () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #3 0x400952df in debPackagesIndex::IndexFile(char const*) const () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #4 0x400942b2 in debPackagesIndex::FindInCache(pkgCache&) const () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #5 0x4005cd2d in pkgSourceList::FindIndex(pkgCache::PkgFileIterator, pkgIndexFile*&) const () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #6 0x40083305 in pkgAcqArchive::QueueNext() () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #7 0x40082b2b in pkgAcqArchive::pkgAcqArchive(pkgAcquire*, pkgSourceList*, pkgRecords*, pkgCache::VerIterator const&, std::string&) () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #8 0x4005d64e in pkgPackageManager::GetArchives(pkgAcquire*, pkgSourceList*, pkgRecords*) () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.3-5.so.3.3 #9 0x08050ab9 in ??
