Hi JW, It's a good suggestion but there's always a risk that some piece of the code will be using this Tag property for some other purpose. There's a risk of usage collisions with this tag, when there are multiple pieces of source that all want to use the tag for it's own purposes.
No, in general it would be better to just add new properties on demand. It's NOT a stupid question, though. It's just that I think too many people are using these tags for all kinds of purposes. It could result in conflicts. Besides, from a documentaion viewpoint, using the Tag would be pretty unclear to document in your code. If someone else will have to modify it, they will be wondering where you get this data from and why you're always referring to this Tag property. You are right in assuming the VCL source doesn't use the tags. Unfortunately, you're not that safe with your assumptions with any third-party components. Still, most will stay away from this Tag property so you'll probably be 99.9% safe... It's only that last 0.01% that worries me... And again, this problem is easily solved by using the Screen.Forms property, which stores the forms in Z-order. The last-used form is first. It's pretty reliable and apparantly overlooked quite a few times. :-) With kind regards, X Katja Bergman. --- In [email protected], J Wise <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hello, > > Following this group has taught me a great deal.
