Yeah, I am looking for something like the XLAuditor.  I was hoping there
was an easier way of doing it instead of overriding the OnDraw
handlers... I'll give it a shot.

If you mean something like what found in XLAuditor (see product below), 
then you have to use either an owner draw tree control (very hard) or 
override the OnDrawItem()/OnPaint() handlers.
