Try groups.google.com ("Google Groups") and look up the borland newsgroups
(or hit the borland.com site and find the newsgroups).

There have been a discussion about copy protection in the thirdparty tools
group. I can summarize it: They slow down the casual thief, but won't stop
the determined code thief. Sort of like locks on screen doors, they keep
those that might be tempted from breaking in, but the seriously determined
guy just finds a different route into your valuable stuff. That's probably
all you can expect.

If you think you have something that's patentable (re: your intellectual
property comment) -- you need legal advice about that. It's not for the
faint of heart (or light of cash).

Subject: [delphi-en] Intellectual property and copy protection

I'm planning to release a small software product on the web and want
to first learn more about protecting the idea and copy-protecting the
software. (Copy protection: A quick Google has already revealed to
me that there's a number of pre-packaged copy-protection libs for
Delphi, including the now freeware TurboPower Onguard product.)

Question: Is there somewhere (a chat, website, etc.) that you guys
can point me to where these two issues are discussed, and I could
begin to educate myself more about how to proceed on both fronts, and
what the pros and cons are of various strategies or libs?

Thanks. <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
