I have had excellent service from aventurehost.com for two years now and am
very happy to recommend them. £189 a years gets me 150Gb a month traffic
with up to 50 websites, all with the usual ftp, email, mysql, perl,. php
etc. They moved me from Us server to a UK one Free of charge, and only
charged me $60 to add a ssl cert (and separate IP) for one of the domains. I
now get 10 ms typical ping time to their data center in Ireland. Also they
are very responsive to support requests. I am very happy with them.
Not sure if they do any db other than mysql but you could ask.

Morning all,
I've had my Web Site set up on 4Dreg out of the UK for a year now,
ever since they took over from TechSoft. I'd always felt it important to
help support each other on these lists however we can, just like shopping
in
your hometown, and so with techSoft being owned by a member I kept it with
them since I first started it. I'm glad to say that during the time
TechSoft handled it I never had a problem that wasn't solved immediately.
Unfortunately I can't say the same for 4dreg!
Not only have I experienced multiple down times, but one for over a
month which h they tried to blame on me because I added mail-forwarding...a
service they Have somehow separated from the rest! On top of that, I made
arrangements with them the very first month they took it over to handle the
yearly update of my domain registration, which I now find wasn't done at
all! And since I began investigating these problem I've found I'm not the
only one they've screwed up royally! Warning! Stay away from these guys!
And so I'm looking for a new home for my site. I need one that will
handle the yearly registration of my domain name for me, including it in my
bill. One that offers password protected ftp directories for me to use for
my site pages and file downloads, as well as at least one publicly open ftp
directory. I need 4 e-mail addresses all using my domain name as the
address part after the '@' sign, e-mail forwarding, good first-level
anti-virus and spam protection, and the ability to handle ASP, PHP, and any
dB engine I choose to make use of.
I know a lot of you have sites so any recommendations would be
appreciated!
