Thanx Dan,
It wouldn't have been nearly so bad had it not been for the fact
that most of my CDs and CD-RW disks on which my source code, libraries...all
kinds of stuff was kept, AND all my installation disks, were still packed up
in boxes from my move into this house earlier this year. All they had to do
was pick up the boxes and go!
Normally it wouldn't have taken me so long to get unpacked but I had
a lot of work that had to be done by contractors first to make the place
accessible to me and I just didn't have anyplace to store these things yet!
I can't even begin to imagine what the monetary loss is but whatever
it is it's nothing when compared to the loss of data and information! Some
of which I know I'll never be able to find again! I just hope someone
somewhere is going to be able to take over the cost of maintaining these
lists because a large majority of my library files came from here!
Otherwise the biggest problem will be time of course. Merely
setting up a new system and finding replacement software is going to take a
while so for the short term anyway I'll not be answering many questions
here. Instead I'll be asking a LOT more than usual as I try to get it all
back together again!

Robert, that's terrible!!

i suffered a similar loss back in 2000, when the truck containing nearly
all of my equipment and archives (i was moving my office) was stolen. g
got the truck back.. empty.

it took me a while to realize that the loss of nearly $10,000 of
equipment was not as severe a blow as that of losing close to 10 years
worth of backups of application code, client data, and personal
libraries. after a brief depression i began to rebuild my pascal code
base from scratch. i must say that these delphi lists were a great
source of comfort and inspiration to me during that period.

you have my heartfelt sympathy. i am glad to read that your
irrepressible good humor and optimism hasnt abandoned you. please dont
hesitate to contact me off-list if i can be of any help or offer you
moral support.

all the best,
DK
