I finally located the problem this evening thanx to Rob. You clued me in a something and when I looked, the requires clause had rtl70 listed. I changed them to just rtl and they installed fine. Funny thing is these same source files I used to install the components into D2005 last year and the compiler didn't balk at them. Evidently Borland tightened up the rules a bit more. BTW...the ONLY time I've seen this minimization problem is when an attempt at either compiling a dpk or loading a bpl goes awry first. Everything else I've done with the new IDE has shown it to be rock-solid and almost as fast as D7! I'm a happy camper again! Just goes to prove the old adage, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!" They must have heard me bitching in Sun Valley! <g>

You're connecting directly to forums.borland.com or newsgroups.borland.com, and not via your ISP's news service, right? Many people who post there using Outlook Express seem to confuse the field for their own name with the name they give to the account in OE, so we see messages that appear to be from "Borland" or "Borland newsgroups." Maybe that's related. You've told OE to post in text mode and not HTML, right? > Next, in trying to add some components via the dpk or bpl's that I > had for D2005 and for which I do have the source code, I'm getting errors > each time on compile due to the IDE not being able to locate the rtl in the > requires clauses. Does anyone know what this has been replaced with in > D2006? Around version 6 or 7, Borland added the capability for the compiler to figure out whether "rtl" means "rtl70" or "rtl90" based on which version of Delphi is doing the compiling. Previous versions required the full package name, and so you frequently see one DPK file for each supported Delphi version. The project options for the package should have something related to prefixes and suffixes for package names. Make sure they're not set to anything that looks fishy. -- Rob __________________________________________________ Delphi-Talk mailing list -> [email protected] http://www.elists.org/mailman/listinfo/delphi-talk __________________________________________________ Delphi-Talk mailing list -> [email protected] http://www.elists.org/mailman/listinfo/delphi-talk
