I went to a Borland little conference today in Christchurch. There was a sneak preview
of D5 there, all of two features, which took about 1 minute of 3 hours.
I left after the first 30 minutes to return 2 hours later for the D5 bit.
They had a nice fradulent schedule
9:15 - 10:15 J Builder 3
10:15 - 10:30 break
10:30 - 11:15 - C++ 4
11:30 - 12:30 Delphi 5
They asked how many people used J Builder ( or what ever it is called) 2 out of 60,
C++ about another 3 or 4.
So pretty much everyone was for D5.
D5 - Showed us "Saved Desktops" whooooo, you can name the desktop layouts "whoooo"
and some other thing that they would not talk about.
What a waste of peoples time.
Back to the real topic "There was some serious slamming about QR, and they said they
are sticking with QR for D5"
The guy "Richard" basically said to use "Report Builder" and not QR. Well he also said
don't use JAVA if you are not doing multi platform work...
Oh, well I think it is time to evaulate Report Builder. It does exports, but you need
yet another product to export to Excel, Lotus, RTF, and HTML.......
It looks like it has some very powerful features, and a programming language for the
Calculated controls, which is what I need.
