Depends on the target (and the application) as some approaches work well
in a Intranet but fail to scale when run with many clients on a 24/7
site on the Internet. 

You are going to have to sit down and consider early on how you are
going to deploy the app & if using a DHTML/HTML interface then how the
app is going to work before you even consider which technology to use.

When I come to do another web app, I do not intend to take a the MS
approach again (DHTML+ASP+COM+MTS), but take a good look at WebHub or
use a thin client app (written in Delphi) that messages to a server app
via TCP.
