I've used one for stock taking in the past, which I could dig up if needed.
There are a LOT of them around, with/without barcode scanners and such, and
they almost all drop out a CSV file - very easy to work with.
Now, a serial barcode scanner and a pilot (and some soldering) - definite
possibilities.
