good point. BTW, dont rely on a certain size, either: under windows 2000,
those files are there, but they are all 0K 'big'.

Surely the volume label contains a time stamp?!!? If you rely on something
in c:\windows, its not likely to be there in Win2k, or NT.  Maybe there is a
registry entry that contains the install date?!?!

How about this: combine the MAC address of the network card, the HD serial
number, and compare that on boot (dunno how to get the MAC addr tho :) ).
Warn the user if one of them is out of whack - refuse to load if both are.
