There _was_ a document about how to distro it via installshield (embeded install
guide, I think), but most of the PDFs dont work on the new site. Try mers
(www.mers.com) or Dunston Thomas (interbase.dthomas.co.uk).

um, yeah, not good. You could also write the install to a cd or zip disk, with your
app - put it all in one place (tho I dont know the legality of this - technically, all
you
need (tho not for long) is the license - the media is,AFAIK, free (downloadable,
anyway)

Well, from what I've seen, you should just be able to install gds32.dll with your
app, and install the server either as a sub-install via install shield, or launch it
from
another installer.

Here's my take, and its NOT Inprise policy (tho it might be, I dunno).

Putting the install on another CD - as long as its not pre-licensed - is not a
problem.
Users can download it off the net anyway! As long as the license is unique for
each client (ie, you've paid for it), how the app gets there is not really an issue.

IMO. Did I say IN MY OPINION? (just to make sure...)

I just looked on the web site, and there was nothing about embeded installs, tho I
_know_ it used to be there. If you have installshield, you can embed the installer
inside another installer (you can do this with ADO too), but its fairly complex.

I dont have an installed version of IB around at the moment, so I can't check the
docs and license, but have a read of it, and ask us (Inprise) if in doubt. I'll have a
look on monday when I'm in the office and see what I can find.
