Well, 3 problems I had recently:
1. On a new Windows NT box, with on-board vga. All pallette icons were black
squares. I reduced the vga ram setting from 8mb to 4mb and all was fine
again (D4).
2. Another PC with cheap vga card and NT - icons were visible but all wrong.
On D3, I could change display settings to say 256 colours, then cancel, and
the icons would appear correctly. Next boot, they would be wrong again. With
D4, they were wrong all the time. I changed to a Riva TNT 2 chipset vga card
and everything is perfect.
3. Not really related to icons, but I had a pc with Legend vga card on Win98
using MS default driver. ANY bde app including Delphi locked the system.
Downloaded the latest driver from Legend and all was fine.
I also understand that others have suggested changing the graphics
acceleration setting.
