Hi all,
I have recently purchased Delphi 5 Standard. I was mislead in that I was under the impression that I could upgrade an old program from source code that was created under Delphi V1.1, for operation under Win 98. There is no money in the exercise, just purely product support, and I don't believe it's worth upgrading to the professional version for the sake of a very simple database function. I have directly canvassed another long time member of the list who advises me that such a component exists Quote - "The component I am thinking of is completely self supporting, requires no database engine, and supports many different field types, even Blob fields, and also Indexes. You just call a SaveToFile method to flush your data to disk, and LoadFromFile to read it. They connect to a Datasopurce component same as a TQuery or TTable with Paradox - you just dont need the Paradox Engine. The other nice thing is you can savetofile as an XML file which is the new ECommerce International Format, so its dead easy to merge your data with another source." Unfortunately he no longer has a reference to it. If anyone else has, or to something similar, I would love to know. Thanks Colin |
