We had this happen on only one machine, and it was caused by a dodgy
keyboard. We eventually found that if you hit the keys just so, you could
trigger the new edit window command from the keyboard.
Replacing the keyboard with a good old IBM PS/2 keyboard (cicra 1983)
fixed the problem 8-)
