I've had this problem before - and the easiest way for me to get rid of it
(without figuring out registry settings) was to use the shortcut for opening
a new project.
ie - Hit Ctrl+F11 to open a new project. Select the new project and
hopefully your main control panel will return.
(Its worked for me in the past)
