project options include a list of packages loaded
for that project.
if you're careful you can set up projects so they
load only the right packages.
We do this here to switch between different versions
of our own package. I've never tried it with
different versions of a 3rd party pkg - but i think
it would work.
Be warned though - it's easy to inadvertently screw
up these settings and then save the project.
