I will be a student for, all things going well, 8 years (5 more). I would like
to be able to stay up to date with my use of SW (languages in particular)
but this is very difficult. I would also like to be able to do my assignments
at home. With some SW this is possible cos I will use it for 3 months and
then never again and I would never buy it - Rational Rose is one of these
but that company give us a trial licence for 90 days. Others, like MatLab
give us student versions - these are cut down full versions. MatLab was,
when I looked at getting it, $20k (IIRC), the education price was $5k. The
student version was $130. The "cut downness" is that one cannot make
arrays of the same size but all features are there. We can learn how to
use the full product and all the features of the full product. In theory,
when we go out into industry we will continue to use the same products
and the products will have a stronger user base.

It would be nice if Borland could do something like this.

Chrissy.
